Syracuse, N.Y. — Redshirt-junior long snapper Ethan Stangle is entering the transfer portal next month, he announced Friday.
Stangle’s 2025 didn’t replicate that of a traditional long snapper. He only handled snapping duties on punts while Fran Brown Jr. was in charge of field goals.
Brown joined his father, Fran Brown Sr., in Syracuse this year after two seasons at FCS Saint Francis, which recently announced it will transition to Division-III. Brown Sr. said his oldest son, who converted from linebacker to fullback, taught himself how to long snap.
By the time training camp concluded, Brown Jr. had earned long snapping duties for the field goal team. With Stangle leaving, there is an opportunity for Brown Jr. to be Syracuse’s sole long snapper.
