A pedestrian who was fatally struck in Desert Hot Springs this week was identified Friday, Dec. 12, as a resident of the city.

Marc Nolasco, 51, was fatally injured around 12:15 a.m. Thursday in the area of Pierson Boulevard and Western Avenue, according to the Desert Hot Springs Police Department.

After the vehicle hit him, the driver attempted to provide aid and called the police. Upon arrival, officers found the victim in the roadway, and the driver cooperated with investigators.

Nolasco was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said it appeared he was walking in the roadway when the car struck him, although the cause of the crash was under investigation.

"Alcohol and driving actions do not appear to be factors in the collision," the department said.
