ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Morehouse College is making significant changes to its football department, the school announced on Wednesday.
Head coach Terance Mathis and offensive line coach Bob Whitfield are out, the college said. Under Mathis’ leadership in the past two seasons, the Maroon Tigers were 4-16 overall — or 4-12 in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, an NCAA athletic conference mostly made up of historically Black colleges.
Harold Ellis, the school’s athletic director, said the moves are part of a bigger effort “to shape a bright and promising future for Morehouse Athletics.”
