MACON, Ga. — An oil spill on the northbound lanes of Interstate-75 has caused heavy traffic on the interstate and in Macon, Georgia Department of Transportation's 511GA shows.

The website shows that debris on I-75 has blocked the left lane, and is causing major backups along I-75 and more.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office, a semi-truck spilled oil onto the interstate Friday.

The 511 website shows that the northbound parts of I-16 that merge onto I-75 are backed up nearly onto Jim Gillis Historic Savannah Parkway. It's also causing traffic delays near 2nd Street and Coliseum Drive in parts of East Macon and Downtown Macon.

511GA also shows backups on U.S. Highway 129 as it merges onto I-16. The website also shows that there are some delays on the southbound lanes on I-75.
