Accumulating lake-effect snow, windy conditions and below-zero temperatures are forecast for Michigan this weekend, Dec. 13-14, with northern Michigan and snowbelt areas seeing the worst of the wintry mix.
A winter weather advisory is in place for the Upper Peninsula and northern counties in the Lower Peninsula, including Emmet, Antrim, Charlevoix, Cheboygan, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee, Wexford, Manistee, Crawford, Kalkaska, Otsego, Alger, Luce, northern Schoolcraft, Keweenaw, Ontonagon, and Chippewa counties. Areas under the advisory can expect weekend-long, lake-effect snow, wind gusts up to 35 mph, extremely low wind chills — down to minus 35 degrees — and icy surfaces creating hazardous travel.
