In a display of community spirit, students in Mrs. Schneider’s third grade Social Studies classes at Hoisington Lincoln Elementary School organized a freewill donation fundraiser on Veterans Day to support local veterans. The fundraiser focused on the significance of the poppy, a symbol of remembrance for those who have served in the military.
In preparation for the event, students learned about the history and importance of the poppy, especially its role in honoring fallen soldiers. With this knowledge in hand, the group took to selling poppies to their fellow classmates, encouraging them to contribute to the cause.
The fundraiser was a success, raising a total of $129.12. The funds were donated to the American Legion Post #286, providing essential support to veterans and their families
