CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — We don't often realize the power of donating blood.

The American Red Cross is asking us to give something that means something this holiday — and one mom wants us to know how powerful your donation is.

Kristin Gype says the only reason she's still here is because people donated blood, which gave her the ability to survive an emergency surgery immediately after giving birth to her son.

“I got to see my daughter go to daycare for the first day. I got to see my son and hold him consciously for the first time," she recalls. “Those people gave me the chance to be their mom.”

Kristin says she's asking us to prioritize blood donation so we can save another mom's life, because she knows children need their mom.
