SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
A Leatherby's Family Creamery in Sacramento County was robbed on Wednesday night, with the suspect taking off with a few hundred dollars in cash while customers were just a few feet away.
The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. at the Arden Way location, leaving behind a broken cash register and an expensive repair to rewire the restaurant.
Surveillance footage captured the suspect ripping the cash register from behind the counter and fleeing with it.
Owner Jacob Leatherby expressed frustration over the robbery, emphasizing the shop's commitment to community and the disappointment of being targeted while serving customers.
"It's hard to see somebody come in and just steal right from you," Leatherby said. "They didn't get that much money, but they caused more damage
