Three men accused in the death of Owen Sound restaurant owner Sharif Rahman have made their first appearance in an Owen Sound courtroom via Zoom.

The men, who were extradited from Scotland, are charged in relation to Rahman’s death after an altercation over an unpaid bill at The Curry House that took place in August 2023.

Twenty-five-year-old Robert Evans is accused of manslaughter after allegedly landing a punch that led to Rahman suffering a serious injury, resulting in being airlifted to a London hospital. The business owner died from his injuries a week later.

His father, 47-year-old Robert Busby Evans, told the court that he didn’t need to have is charges read out to him. He’s accused of being an accessory after the fact, and was not in the restaurant at the time of the altercation
