Reconfiguration work will be paused following Dec. 15 to ensure aircraft are available to support operations during the peak winter travel season, the airline said.
Work to remove reclining seats on many of WestJet’s planes has been paused but will ultimately move ahead, says the Calgary-based carrier.
WestJet said the process of “reconfiguring” half of its all-economy fleet will be completed by Dec. 15.

“Following December 15, we will pause the reconfiguration work to ensure our aircraft are available to support our operations during the peak winter travel season,” spokeswoman Julia Brunet said in an email Friday.
“We plan to resume reconfiguring our all-economy aircraft in the spring.”
