CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - The parents of Julian Wood are scheduled to go to trial next year against Giant Eagle and Volunteers of America in their lawsuit alleging security failures.
In the lawsuit filed Oct. 2024, Margot and Jared Wood claim the defendants put profits over safety, leading to their son Julian’s death.
In Oct. 2025, Bionca Ellis was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for stabbing Margot and Julian Wood, 3, in the parking lot of the North Olmsted Giant Eagle.
Julian died from his injuries, and his mother survived the attack.
North Olmsted police arrested Ellis minutes after the stabbing on June 3, 2024. She was still carrying the kitchen knife used.
Police called the stabbing a “random” attack, with Ellis and the Wood family not knowing each other.
