The Columbia Police Department welcomed two new K-9 units to its team on Friday.
In a facebook post , the department introduced Kaiser and Atlas, who have successfully completed several weeks of intensive training alongside their handlers, Officer Steve Wilmoth and Officer Trevor Rukstad.
Both units earned certification through the North American Police Working Dog Association and the Missouri Police Canine Association.
Kaiser and Atlas are 18-month-old German shepherds and are now fully prepared to begin their service to Columbia, according to the post.
"We are proud to add these highly trained K9 teams to our department and look forward to the important work they will do," the department wrote in the post.
