On Sunday, Dec. 7, disaster struck Happy Days Animal Sanctuary when a small fire broke out in the rescue's basement in Fort Erie, Ontario. Thirty-one cats died from smoke inhalation as a result of the blaze, and 12 other felines were rushed to a nearby emergency vet clinic for treatment.
