Next month, the House of Representatives kicks off the new legislative session with new conference and committee spaces that offer the public some new amenities, but it may require legislative leaders to juggle schedules on the fly.

Driving this temporary move for all House committee hearings and press conferences for the entire 2026 session to state-owned offices at 1 Granite Place in Concord was the decision to do a floor-to-ceiling, $7.5 million overall of the circa-1879 Legislative Office Building (LOB) across the street from the State House.

The temporary quarters at Granite Place quarters will require plenty of planning to execute hearings for as many as 900 House bills over a three-month period at this smaller space a mile and a half from the State House.
