LUDINGTON — It has been a long time since the Fremont girls varsity basketball team has lost a West Michigan Conference-Lakes Division contest.

That streak nearly ended on Thursday as the Ludington girls varsity team welcomed the Packers to Hawley Gymnasium.

The Orioles used their strong defensive pressure to jump out to an early lead. However, the Fremont offensive attack was too much and Ludington fell, 48-36, in its first West Michigan Conference-Lakes contest.

“We came out and played really well,” Ludington head coach Warren Stowe said. “The first and fourth quarters, you try to bottle some of that up and build off of that; the middle quarters not so much.
