COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - A hard freeze is expected this weekend, prompting local plumbing companies to urge residents to protect their pipes before temperatures drop into dangerous territory.
Storm Team 9 Meteorologist Tyler Allender says temperatures will reach one of the lowest points seen in 20-25 years at the start of the week.
“It’s not record cold. We see it every year, once or twice a year at least, usually, but it is going to be a bit of a shock for sure,” Allender said.
Weekend freeze threatens infrastructure
The National Weather Service forecasts temperatures in the low to mid-20s late Sunday night and early Monday morning. Allender said temperatures of 25 degrees or less create crucial conditions for local infrastructure.
