The embattled school district with a student population of more than 25,600 students and 37 campuses is joining other North Texas communities that say they are ‘forced’ to make cuts amid declining enrollment and funding woes.

A crucial vote is expected during a school board meeting on January 15, 2026 .

Travis World Language Academy has been home to generations of Grand Prairie residents.

“All my family went to this school from kinder to elementary,” said Jesus Mendoza, who lives a few blocks away. “I was expecting my little son, he’s one year old, to go to this school, so I’m taking it kind of tough.”
