The Windsor Spitfires are suddenly looking up in the standings.
A 4-3 loss in Kingston to the Frontenacs on Friday left the door open for the Flint Firebirds, who beat the Kitchener Rangers 4-1 at home. That win moved the Firebirds a single point up on the Spitfires for the top spot in the West Division and the Western Conference.
“Yes, we look (at the standings),” Spitfires’ head coach Greg Walters said. “We want to catch Brantford (for the best record in the league). We just have to keep trying to get better every day.
“I didn’t like our energy, compete and physicality in the first (period). The second and third, we did, but we didn’t generate enough in the third period (just three shots) to comeback and win.”
