At 1:18 a.m. on Saturday, the National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning valid from Sunday 4 a.m. until Monday 4 a.m. for Cayuga County.
The weather service comments, "Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations 7 to 14 inches in the most persistent lake snows. Snowfall rates may reach 2 to 3 inches per hour Sunday morning through midday."
"Travel will be very difficult with deep snow cover on roads and very poor visibility," states the weather service. "Heavy snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities."
