Football supporters across the region are being encouraged to donate this Derby Day.
The Wear-Tyne clash at the Stadium of Light between Sunderland AFC and Newcastle United this weekend will see a charity campaign asking fans to donate to help North East children access free sports sessions.
Donations made by supporters will be tripled, with their contributions being doubled by the North East mayor Kim McGuinness's Region of Sport fund, up to £50,000, and matched in-kind by several foundations and those associated with the campaign Together Through Sport.
Donations could effectively result in three times as many sports sessions and holiday camp spots for children across the region.
