The incident happened at Edge Hill University's Art Centre in Ormskirk

A worker was taken to hospital after suffering injuries while carrying out electrical infrastructure works at a university. Edge Hill University confirmed emergency services attended its Ormskirk campus following the incident on Saturday, December 6, at around 9.30am in the Arts Centre.

The injured worker, an independent electrical contractor, was carrying out planned electrical infrastructure work when the incident happened. He received "immediate assistance" from colleagues and emergency services before being taken to hospital, where he is receiving treatment.

It is understood his injuries are expected to fully heal.
