: Assam Police have arrested a retired Indian Air Force (IAF) officer in Tezpur on suspicion of maintaining links with a Pakistani espionage network, triggering serious national security concerns.
The accused has been identified as Kulendra Sarma, a resident of Tezpur’s Patia locality. Police said he was taken into custody late on Thursday night following sustained surveillance and a preliminary investigation.
A case has been registered against Sarma under Sections 147, 148, 152, 238 and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
According to investigators, Sarma was allegedly in contact with individuals linked to a Pakistani intelligence agency. During the investigation, police seized a mobile phone and a laptop from his possession.
