INDIANAPOLIS — A mammogram machine creates detailed images of both breasts, like the ones captured during Michelle Munoz’s routine screening at age 41.
"I didn't have symptoms, I didn't have a lump, I didn't have anything that gave me a sign that I had breast cancer," Munoz said.
That screening picked up small micro-calcifications that raised concern.
Dr. Christina Kim is a breast surgical oncologist at Ascension St. Vincent .
"It was a little more suspicious because it was a pretty broad area," Kim said. "We describe it as sort of linear distribution, and it encompassed essentially an entire quadrant of her breasts on the left side, so that was somewhat worrisome for us. "
A biopsy followed.
