An overnight shooting in Pittsburgh’s Middle Hill left a man in critical condition on Saturday.

Around 1:45 a.m., police were dispatched to the 600 block of Chauncey Street for three separate ShotSpotter alerts totaling 17 rounds, Pittsburgh Public Safety said. Upon arrival, police located a car with bullet damage and multiple shell casings in the area.

Several blocks away from the car, near the intersection of Wylie Avenue and Junilla streets, officers located a man who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his torso and arm, officials said.

The man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, where he was taken directly in to surgery.

An initial investigation indicated that the man was returning to his car when the shooting took place, officials said.
