Recently, the Roman Catholic Church decided, once again, to profess that women cannot be ordained. Ordination is when an individual is consecrated as deacon, priest or bishop in order to serve God and the world in this particular way. The Roman Catholic church is certainly free to interpret doctrine, practice and ritual in the way that seems fit for them. But I would like to tell you about the other Catholic church in town, Light of Christ, which is part of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion (ECC) and which fully participates in the ordination of women. I am blessed to be not only part of this faith community, but I get to serve as their pastor, and yes, I am a woman ordained as a Catholic priest.
