The Boston Red Sox need to alter their offseason plans after missing out on star players like Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber.
The Red Sox took a big step forward this season, reaching the postseason for the first time since 2021. The Red Sox have been active early this offseason, trading for star pitcher Sonny Gray, but were expected to pursue some of the top available free agents after an early playoff exit.
With sluggers like Alonso and Schwarber signing elsewhere during the winter meetings, Boston will need to look for other players this offseason. MassLive's Chris Cotillo reported that a new star trade target has emerged for the Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals first baseman Willson Contreras.
