New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday declined to entertain the bail plea of Mihir Shah, the son of a former Shiv Sena leader, in the 2024 Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case , making sharp observations on the conduct of the accused and the need for accountability.
A bench comprising Justices Dipankar Datta and A G Masih took note of Shah’s background, including the fact that he comes from an affluent family and that his father is associated with the Eknath Shinde-led faction of the Shiv Sena, which currently heads the Maharashtra government.
Court’s strong remarks on conduct
While refusing to hear the plea, the bench made scathing remarks on the manner in which the alleged offence was committed and the subsequent conduct of the accused.
