Syracuse, N.Y. — A lake-effect snow warning remains in effect for Oswego County through 4 p.m. Sunday as intense snowfall continues to hit areas east of Lake Ontario.
Forecasters expect an additional 10 to 23 inches of snow in the most persistent lake-effect bands, according to the National Weather Service.
Snowfall rates could reach 3 to 4 inches per hour at times, particularly overnight and into Sunday morning. Wind gusts up to 35 mph could lead to blowing and drifting snow, causing poor visibility on roadways.
Travel conditions are expected to be difficult and dangerous, especially tonight through Sunday morning. Deep snow is expected to cover roads, and conditions may change rapidly, the weather service warned.
The lake-effect snow is being fueled by cold air moving across Lake Ont
