Liverpool legend Ian Rush spent around 48 hours in intensive care after suffering from beathing difficulties.
The 64-year-old, who remains Liverpool’s all-time leading scorer with 346 goals, was taken to Countess of Chester Hospital after falling ill at home last week.
According to the Daily Mail , Rush was taken to hospital ‘within minutes’ after concerns were raised.
The report adds that Rush is ‘recovering well’ and is said to be ‘in good spirits’, although he remains in hospital.
It is suspected that Rush is a victim of the ‘superflu’ outbreak which has swept the country.
Earlier this week, the NHS was warned that the UK is facing a ‘tidal wave’ of infections due to the new strain of flu .
