MANSFIELD -- Vernon Newsom Stadium played host to one of the state’s most anticipated matchups Friday evening: No. 1 Aledo and No. 2 Lone Star in the Class 5A Division I state semifinals.

With championship game aspirations on the line, outside sources aplenty had the Bearcats favored by as many as 21 points, a nod to their championship pedigree.
