A man is in a critical but stable condition after he was hit by a car while getting out of a taxi in the early hours of the morning. Emergency services were called to Burnside Road in Newarthill at 1.50am.
The 66-year-old man had just gotten out of a taxi when he was hit by a grey Skoda Karoq. He was initially taken to University Hospital Wishaw before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where his condition has been described by medical staff as "critical but stable".
Police are now appealing for information as they try to ascertain the full circumstances of the incident. They are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dash cam or private CCTV footage from the area.
