Three seniors in the Montreal area have been found dead outdoors in less than a week, raising urgent questions about gaps in elder care and safety protocols during cold weather.

The cluster of deaths — all involving elderly residents who ended up outside in freezing conditions — has prompted investigations across three municipal police departments.

On Friday, police in Thérèse-de Blainville confirmed a 78-year-old man was found outside near 66 Bouthillier St. in Rosemère at around 9:30 a.m. He was transported to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“We understand that this type of event raises concerns, particularly during the winter months. We want to reassure the public that all measures are being taken to shed light on the facts,” Ch. Insp. Karine Desaulniers said in a statement.
