Former Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Desmond King is retiring from the NFL, he announced on social media this week. King hinted he might retire earlier this offseason, and now has made it official.
He will retire as a Charger, the team where he spent most of his career after they drafted him in the fifth-round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Iowa.
King also spent extensive time with the Houston Texans as their starting slot cornerback, but was beat out by Myles Bryant and released as a result of that happening. He played there in every season from 2021 to 2024, but was released two times.
The Steelers scooped King up off waivers when he was released the first time. King lasted just five weeks with the Steelers, and played just one snap with the team before they released him.
