On Saturday at 1:16 p.m. a winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from 10 p.m. until Sunday 1 p.m. for Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.
"Total snow accumulations between 2 and 3 inches expected, locally 4 inches possible," explains the weather service. "Light snow develops after 6pm, becoming steadier after 10pm. Snowfall rates up to 1/2' hr possible overnight into Sunday morning, resulting in reduced visibilities and snow covered roads. Snow ending mid to late Sunday morning."
"Plan on hazardous road conditions with snow covered roads late this evening into Sunday morning," says the weather service. "Slow down and use caution while traveling. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road conditions."
