NEAR WEST BRANCH, Iowa (KCRG) - The Iowa State Patrol said the Westbound and Eastbound lanes of I-80 at Cedar River Bridge, East of West Branch, are closed due to multiple crashes.

Authorities said it would be hours until the stretch of roadway opens back up.

ISP is asking drivers to avoid the area to give first responders room to assist motorists and clear the scene.

The Iowa Department of Transportation said I-80 is closed in both directions from Coral Ridge Ave. (Exit 240) to Plainview Rd (Exit 284) because of the crashes and weather conditions.
