WEST LAFAYETTE – Oscar Cluff was a prolific scorer at South Dakota State, ranking sixth in the Summit League in that category and leading the conference at better than 63% shooting.
Scoring has not been his role with Purdue this season and he has embraced doing the grimy work the Boilermakers need, patrolling the glass and protecting the paint on defense.
For one afternoon against Marquette today, however, the 6-foot-11 big man found himself back as the focus of offensive attention for his team. Against a Golden Eagles frontline that was powerless to stop him in the post, the former Jackrabbit poured in a season-high 22 points, went 9 for 9 from the field and added 11 rebounds to lead the No. 6 Boilermakers to a 79-59 victory at Mackey Arena.
It was the fourth double-double of the seaso
