Kochi: Breaking no tradition, Ernakulam district once again stood firmly with the United Democratic Front (UDF) in the local body elections on Saturday. The strong UDF wave that swept across Kerala also created a major ripple in the district.

With the local body election results out, the UDF has emerged dominant across the Kochi Corporation, municipalities and all three tiers of panchayats. Despite severe rebel troubles in the Kochi Corporation and several municipalities, the Congress and the UDF overcame every challenge to post an emphatic victory.
