MADISON, Ind. — A federal judge reinstated the Institute of Museum and Library Services (ILMS) federal grants, according to the American Library Association (ALA).
This is after the agency was on a list in an executive order by President Donald Trump from March, titled the 'reduction of the federal bureaucracy'.
"So far a lot of the things that we've heard just over this past year have been pretty negative, so you feel like you're being hit from all sides, but that was a breath of fresh air," said Jefferson County Public Library director Judi Terpening.
IMLS helped fund the digitization of a history project for the Madison library's 200th birthday.
Free database services and programs where libraries share resources, among others, are possibly at risk.
