A terrorist attack in Sudan's volatile Abyei region has resulted in the deaths of six Bangladesh Army personnel serving under the UN peacekeeping mission. Additionally, eight others were injured, according to military officials in Dhaka who disclosed the attack on Saturday.

Efforts to stabilize the region and deliver necessary medical aid to the injured peacekeepers continue, even as the Bangladesh Army confirmed that hostilities in the area are far from over. An official statement released on Facebook affirmed ongoing rescue operations.
