HERMANTOWN — A clutch, go-ahead 3-pointer by Duluth East junior Kaden Meyer had Bemidji on the ropes late in Saturday’s Holiday Classic tournament game in Hermantown.
With just under a minute remaining, the Lumberjacks battled back to knot the score via a 3-point play by Austin Riewer and proceeded to tack on five more points at the charity stripe in an eventual 69-64 win over the Greyhounds at Hermantown High School.
Despite being on the wrong end of the back-and-forth battle, East head coach Rhett McDonald came away encouraged by the team’s effort.
“As a coach, this is the type of game that we have needed, and I’ve wanted our guys to respond, and they did that today,” said East head coach Rhett McDonald. “So there are many cases in coaching, I feel like, where you can be disappointed
