The USC women’s basketball team dropped a hard 79-51 loss to No. 1 Connecticut on Saturday afternoon, but one local star got a shoutout from a coaching legend.

Ahead of Saturday’s game, UConn coach Geno Auriemma gave a shoutout to USC freshman Jazzy Davidson, who played her high school years playing in Oregon.

“She really stamped herself on that team. She’s probably the best freshman in the country at this point based on what has happened on the court, not the hype part,” Auriemma said in an interview with UConn on SNY.

With JuJu Watkins sidelined with a knee injury, Davidson has been thrust into a key role this year for the Trojans. Davidson is averaging 16.7 points, seven rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.7 steals and 2.3 blocks in 32 minutes per game this year. Outside of the steals, Davidson
