NEW YORK — Indiana football quarterback Fernando Mendoza won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night at the at Jazz at Lincoln Center's Appel Room.
Mendoza beat out Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin, Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love to become the first Heisman winner in IU history.

"I'm at a loss for words, thank to you everybody.
"First, I want to thank God for giving me an opportunity that once felt a world away. Standing here tonight holding this bad boy, representing Indiana University still doesn't feel real.
