A cold weather advisory is in effect across the Chicago area as an "arctic blast" is set to hit the region overnight Saturday, sending temperatures plummeting below zero, according to the NBC 5 Storm Team.
The advisory began at 8 p.m. Saturday and continues through noon Sunday, according to National Weather Service.
The entire state of Illinois and northwest Indiana are included in the advisory.
Dangerously cold wind chills between 15 to 25 degrees below zero were expected, according to NWS.

8 p.m. Saturday: 9 degrees, windchill of 7 degrees below zero
11 p.m. Saturday: 6 degrees, windchill of 11 degrees below zero
2 a.m. Sunday: 3 degrees, windchill of 15 degre
