HARTFORD, Conn. (WFSB) - Gov. Ned Lamont activated Connecticut’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol for Sunday and Monday.
The governor said this was due to arctic air bringing windchill temperatures at or below zero during overnight hours.
The protocol was set to begin at noon Sunday, Dec. 14, and remain in effect until noon Monday, Dec. 15. The system coordinates state agencies and municipalities with United Way 2-1-1 and Connecticut’s shelter network to provide protection for vulnerable populations.
Anyone needing shelter or a warming center can visit 211ct.org or call 2-1-1 to find available locations. Transportation can be provided if necessary.
