SCRANTON, Pa. — On Saturday, volunteers laid hundreds of wreaths to honor veterans in Scranton as part of Wreaths Across America Day.
This is the seventh year Saint Stanislaus Cathedral, along Kane Street, participated.
A wreath-laying ceremony acknowledged all branches of the military before volunteers spread out to place more than 600 wreaths on the graves of veterans.
"My dad's a veteran, and to see everybody in all walks of life come here to support us, it's really heartwarming," said Maria Hughes, of the St. Stanislaus Cathedral Parish Committee.
Organizers tell us this was the first year they were able to place a wreath on each veteran's grave.
