SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO, Argentina, Dec 13 : Estudiantes de La Plata's Fernando Muslera saved Franco Pardo's spot-kick as they beat Racing Club 5-4 in a penalty shootout in the Argentine Torneo Clausura final at the Estadio Madre de Ciudades in Santiago del Estero on Saturday.
Racing scored the first goal of the contest 10 minutes from time when a miscommunication in Estudiantes' defence allowed Adrian Martinez to pounce, drilling the ball past Muslera to spark wild celebrations among supporters.
However, Estudiantes fought back in added time, with Guido Carrillo directing a header on target following a set piece to level the match and send the encounter to extra time and then penalties.
Facundo Rodriguez held his nerve when the shootout went to sudden death, with his effort squirming past
