WACO, Texas (KWTX) - In October, Freedom’s Path Waco Housing Development opened its doors to services members - giving homeless veterans a new home.

The project; a collaboration between Veterans Affairs, the Stan C. Parker Foundation, and the city of Waco.

Currently, eight rooms are occupied out of the 34 unit development.

Staff at Veterans One Stop are hoping more Central Texas veterans will reach out and receive keys before the new year arrives.

“We have about 16 apartments that are still vacant and so we would like to see those filled by the end of the year and so we want to work diligently,” Melinda Bonds, Associate Director, Behavioral Health Services for Heart of Texas Behavioral Health Network said.
