INDIANAPOLIS — Trailing by four at halftime, Butler basketball assistant coach Maurice Joseph pinpointed the one area the Bulldogs needed to improve if they wanted to pull out a win over Providence in their Big East season opener: 50/50 balls.

Winning 50/50 balls requires hustle and heart. It takes a willingness to dive into the first row of the crowd or skid across the Hinkle Fieldhouse floor with a disregard for scrapes and burns.
