A Met Office amber rain warning is in effect amid an expectation that "very heavy and persistent rain" is expected to continue this week with the potential of "danger to life" in some regions. Homes and businesses in parts of northern England and south-west Scotland are due to face flooding on Sunday and Monday, according to the Met Office .
