New Delhi: Google has started testing a new beta feature in Google Translate that lets users hear live translations directly through their headphones. Instead of reading translated text on a screen or hearing robotic audio out loud, users can listen privately as speech is translated in real time. According to Google, the system keeps key elements of how people speak, such as tone, rhythm, and pauses.
This feature will allow listeners to understand conversations more clearly and recognise when different people are speaking. At the moment, the beta version is available on Android phones in the United States, Mexico, and India. It supports more than 70 languages. Google has said it plans to bring the feature to iOS devices and more countries sometime in 2026.
